MOTHER’S DAY IN CARDIFF

Mother’s Day is only a week away and if you’re anything like me, we always scramble for last minute ideas for the main gal in our life.

Well lucky for us, Cardiff has a wide range of places which will keep all the mams smiling on Sunday.

Here are some suggestions of places to go or things to do this Mothering Sunday.

Lunch IN with Tidy Kitchen:

All mother’s deserve a good Breakfast in Bed.

Tidy Kitchen are supplying luxurious food parcels made with love this Mother’s Day.

Mum gets a treat, you don’t get the washing up!

The Breakfast package is bursting with packages, berries, overnight oats, avocado bagels…the lot!

Pressed snooze? Well how about lunch at home? Tidy Kitchen Mother’s Day Feist box comes with oozy burrata and parma ham salad, slow braised lamb lunch with root vegetables and mash, and finished with a hazelnut torte with cream and salted caramel sauce.

Serves 2: £60. Serves 4: £100

…Be extra cute and buy mum some new PJs to spend the whole day in.

Check out TidyKitchen’s isntragram for more information.

Lunch OUT with Daffodil.

If mum wants a change of scenery, then tell her to get on her best frock and treat her to a Mother’s Day lunch at The Daffodil, where they have recently launched their new Lunch Menu.

I already have my eyes on the Garlic & Rosemary Studded Welsh Leg of Lamb, and there is no way I’m leaving without a Black Forest Margarita. Mums love margs!

Oh and you must buy her a bunch of daffs, be good. Going to the Daffodil, It would be wrong not to!

Dinner Out:

Grab dinner with mam at The Heathcock in Llandaff.

A night of Champange and Pembrokeshire Oysters, or indulge in their ever dazzling menu of local experimental small plates. Small plates for a big heart.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again; oyster with cucumber, apple and tarragon. Bloody life changing.

Welsh gifts

All mums deserve some proper Welsh gifts: take a trip down to Pontcanna Mews Courtyard to do a spot of shopping.

All the pretty things from Treat Pontcanna, all the tasty things from CannaDeli.

You’re stuck in town? Well, Shop Wales is the answer: traditional Welsh Tweedmill blankets, the cutest “mam” mugs and tons of Welsh chocolate and candles.

Want a Welsh Mother’s Day Card, Driftwood Designs Cardiff, in Cardiff arcade, always have the best selection.

Keep it cute, keep it local.

Afternoon Tea: in the arcade.

Cardiff’s Afternoon Tea scene is on the rise.

But Barker Tea House will always have a place in our hearts. Best slab of Victoria sponge in town.

In the centre of a bustling Victorian arcade you can treat mum to all the sweet treats and natter about the neighbours.

Perfect pit stop during your busy day of shopping and spoiling her rotten.

Afternoon Tea: in the hotel:

Afternoon tea but make it fancy…Parkgate Hotel Afternoon Tea is the answer.

Parkgate only opened at the end of last year and it is as glitzy as ever.

Turn on both the glam and the charm and treat mum to a decadent afternoon tea amongst marble and chandeliers.

I have my eyes on the Welsh Woodland Ham Hock finger sarnie and shotgun the Cherries Jubilee!

My cuppa: Earl grey, hold the lemon.

£42 per person

Welsh Flowers from the Market.

And of course, Mother’s Day would be nothing without a tumbling bunch of bewtiful flowers.

My faveorutie snips; Secret Garden Florist.

But remember, the market is closed on Sunday, so buy your bunches ahead of time!

Happy Mother’s Day: Sunday 19th March 2023.

Sul y Mamau Hapus” in Welsh.
